Tim Burton White Queen Costume Pose Alice in Wonderland

Anne Hathaway’s character, the angelic and dainty White Queen from Tim Burton’s Disney 2010 interpretation of Alice in Wonderland, ends up an unexpected comedic character in the movie with her mannerisms. The White Queen’s makeup is quite simple, make your face pale and your lipstick and brows dark. An added touch is to get a light blond wig and paint your fingernails black. The White Queen costume uses an almost wedding dress like gown with sheer sleeves starting from the shoulders. Note also the use of pearls throughout the neckline of the dress and the pearl necklace. Anne Hathaway plays the White Queen as queenly as she can, with the most elegance and daintiness she can muster. It’s really unexpected comedy when she breaks “character” to act in an unqueenly manner that makes the White Queen so endearing. Incorporating that mannerism will greatly enhance your costume. If you need further inspiration, just remember that Anne Hathaway describes the White Queen as “punk-rock, vegan pacifist.”
